beMCC Discussion: Messy Church

The OFLD is excited to present you with one of our first “beMCC Discussions!”

“beMCC Discussions” recognize that there are times when others have created courses, webinars, on-demand webinars, or other online offerings that contain information or learnings that may benefit the ministries of MCC.  “beMCC Discussions” recognize our important partnerships with others, and they recognize our need to have meaningful conversations among ourselves.

Do you want to provide a new worship service which enables children and parents to worship together?

Do you want to offer a less formal way of gathering which might appeal to unchurched families?

Messy Church is a way of using craft activities, stories and songs to share the Good News with families.

The songs and story gather the congregation together. The craft activities support the worship theme and are tailored for the age ranges of the children. A shared meal afterwards helps to build community.

This webinar is an opportunity to watch a video from the United Church of Canada on this topic (https://edgeucc.adobeconnect.com/_a1012244660/p1t9cthxpib/), and then to come together to discuss this concept of Messy Church within an MCC Context.

This “beMCC Discussion” on Messy Church will be facilitated by Rev. Elder Cecilia Eggleston on November 18th at 2:00 pm (Eastern)/ 7:00 pm (UK time).  She will also share the experience of Northern Lights MCC, Newcastle upon Tyne, England, which offered a Messy Church service for three years.

To take part in this exciting conversation about “Messy Church” we invite you to do the following:

  1. Register:  The cost for registering for this beMCC Discussion is $10.00 USD (this fee helps to defray the costs associated with providing live opportunities for discussion and to support the ministries of SSOL and OFLD). (REGISTER HERE)
  2. Watch the “Messy Church” webinar from the United Church of Canada (it’s best to watch this recording a day or two prior to the beMCC Discussion – this webinar uses Adobe Connect and is free to view)
  3. Join us live on November 18th – 2:00 pm (Eastern) / 7:00 pm (UK) for a beMCC Discussion about Messy Church. (Login information will be sent in advance of the webinar.)
